Coach Betcher–
My name is Trina Moquett; I am the Assistant Softball coach at Garden City Community College in Garden City Kansas. I am writing to inquire about any unsigned 08 pitchers that you may have on your team. We currently have one top pitcher coming in next year and are in need of one more and a catcher to finish our 08 recruiting class. I found your team on the website for attending the JO Classic in Las Vegas. We are attending the showcase and tournament and are trying to get the heads up on available pitchers that we will be able to look at while we are there. If you have any girls that you feel might have an interest in learning more about GCCC and our softball program, please email me back.
Below is a little information on our school and softball program. Also, you can check us out online at www.gcccks.edu.
We are looking for special young women who have the attitude, effort and teamwork to help our program become one of the best in the conference and the country. Education is the most important priority to us. Garden City Community College offers the opportunity for a great start to their education. Our academic reputation is one of the best in the country. Academic and athletic scholarships as well as work-study programs are available.
GCCC is a 2-year school located in Garden City, Kansas with approximately 2400 students. Our athletic teams compete in the Jayhawk Conference. This NJCAA Division I Conference is comprised of 19 community colleges and is one of the best in the country.
The 2007 season was extremely successful and one to remember. Many team records were broken including most wins, home runs, runs batted in, extra base hits, fielding percentage. Doubles, extra base hits, home runs and fielding percentage were some of the many individual season records that were also broken. Post season honors were numerous with 2 All-American, 4 All-Region and 4 All-Conference selections. Along with our athletic accomplishments we also had 2 Academic All-Americans.
We just finished up our 2008 season and had a very successful year. We ended the season with a 34-17 record and took 3rd in our region tournament. We placed 5 on both the All-Conference and All-Region teams along with 2 All-American nominations. Many team and individual records were broken to add to this team’s success. Our ultimate goal is to reach the national tournament, and the accolades that we have received in the past 2 years prove our determination to reach this goal!
Coach, Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from you soon!
