We have done our best to evaluate fairly and add to our program many new faces through the try-out process. I know it is not perfect nor fair - and it is so difficult to not be able to accept everyone who wishes to join a program or team - but there are limitations to our resources and ability to maintain our program at appropriate numbers.
By now families should have been contacted via phone or email - as told to the players trying out - if they were asked to be on a team. I hope everyone has checked their emails over the past few days through this morning.
If you have not heard from a coach or myself, then at this time we unfortunately did not have the right fit for you. I know I got a couple voice mails questioning why a player was not selected when she was a better player than some others who have heard from us - in many cases we have the group trying out wanting to be a pitcher - and we only have room for so many per team - that is a tough one with so many players wanting to pitch. We also do not have firm commitments from every player invited - unlike some programs that want a signed contract to "lock you in" - we do not operate that way here. So we may or may not be complete with our searches - in case you either see notices on the websites or hear of us looking at a player or two.
I know we still are looking for great attitudes and hard working 10 under athletes - that roster is not complete yet.
I know we are looking for a top quality 11 and 12 under pitcher.
We now have the managers in line at 14 under - and although I selected many athletes from my input and the other assistants out there, on the first round of tryouts this past week, they will certainly have a spot or two for needs they have at both 13 and 14.
Our 16's are still looking for quality middle infielders and a big stick.
At 18 - due to a program stealing a player who had already agreed to play for the HAWKS - we have an opportunity for a top level pitcher. We also have several positions still available. Looking for a quality shortstop for one of our teams.
Thank you for making the decision to tryout - hopefully we have made many new friends to add to our group of Hawks - and to any that didn't just quite fit or had better opportunities elsewhere - I wish you the best of luck and success.
