I just heard tragic news that long time Homer Hawk Dan Ross passed away. The Ross family had moved away to Kansas City a couple years ago, but their love and spirit never left the Hawk family over that time.
I am waiting for details and will post when I hear.
To the entire Ross family, our prayers and thoughts in your loss.

I cant believe what I have heard tonight. My heart is breaking. I had the opportunity to see Dan again in St. Louis this year. I was entering a restaurant when out of nowhere someone came up behind me and grabbed me... I turned around and there was Dan. He pulled me in close and gave me a big hug and in that Southern Drawl said "Hey bud what have you been up to". As I answered him I looked at him and his sweet smile and I thought to myself, I really miss him. He went on to ask a million questions about me, Char, the kids and the Hawks. He was more interested in what was going on in our lives, then talking about his life. That is what Dan did well, always made me and my family feel as though we were the most important thing in the world at that time. He then asked where Char and the kids were at. I told them that they were in the restaurant... he told me "Well go get 'em I want to see him". Char and the kids came outside and he gave each of a big hug, smiling, that sweet smile the whole time. It was so good to see him. That was the last time I talked to him. I'm ashamed to say that I never reach out to him after that... that I never called him.... that I never sent him an email... an email asking about him, Rhonda and the kids. I thought as we all do... I'll see him again... I'll call him tomorrow... I'll see him at the next softball tournament... always putting off things until sometime in the future. How life can change in a second... How your heart can ache in such a way that you're not sure what to do, what to say, what tomorrow will feel like... wishing you could turn back time and see him one more time. Please keep Rhonda, the kids and Dan's family and friends in your prayers... and tonight call that person who you been putting off talking to until tomorrow... and tell them you love them, you appreciate them, you miss them. Tell them how much they mean to you. A great Husband, Father and Friend.... I love you brother... and I miss you
