Richards seniors show take-charge mentality Softball Notebook March 27, 2008 BY TONY BARANEK Staff Writer Senior leadership doesn't come in large quantity for Richards this season, but Bulldogs coach Julie Folliard says she couldn't ask for a higher quality than what she's getting from outfielder Megan O'Brien and second baseman Ann Paolisso. "We're down from five seniors last year to only two," Folliard said. "I was really looking forward to seeing the type of leadership that Ann and Megan would provide. And they're doing a phenomenal job, definitely meeting my expectations." O'Brien, who will play college ball at the University of St. Francis, is in her fourth season on the Richards varsity. Paolisso is in her third. Both have been all-conference selections in every year they've played. Both have tackled their new roles in a serious manner. "They take charge," Folliard said. "They get the kids started. I don't have to ask the group to get in a lineup for conditioning. The seniors do it. I don't have to ask who is going to help with equipment, but they take care of that. "They've already planned the team's spaghetti dinner. They've asked me if it's time to put together the team phone list. They're one step ahead of me, which is perfect leadership. Wonderful."
