GVSU is off to a good start (10-5) in FL. Unfortunately, they're next 7 games were cancelled due to weather (5 @ Lewis last weekend and a DH in Olivet, MI yesterday). They're currently on their way to Salem, VA for a weekend tourney and hopefully will see weather almost comparable to what they were able to play in down in FL.
Lori finished up her week in FL going 4-1, with her only loss vs. GV's regional foe Winona State (2-1). She also had 2 saves on the week. In her last complete game of the week, she missed pitching a perfect game by giving up a walk to the leadoff batter in the bottom of the 7th. In all, she threw 40 innings, gave up 4 runs (all earned), threw 3 shut-outs, 1 no-hitter, and struck out 57 batters.
Bree Kroneberg is doing a fine job behind the plate, catching every other game for GV. Her bat has also been impressive, coming up with some clutch hits for GV.
An lets not forget, Karen Walters (Minooka HS/Sharks) who is doing a great job in left field for the Lakers. Karen also had some very timely hits for the team.
Go Lakers!
(Thanks Dave, for keeping up with the girls!)
