Former Hawk player and now Homer Hawk coach Hannah Carter will be signing next week with Robert Morris College and coaches Smith, Coach "K" and our very own Dave Snooks. Hannah is not only a terrific ball player - but she is an unbelievable coach and roll model for our 10 under team and I am very, very proud to have her in the HOMER HAWK program. She is what exemplifies a complete student athlete and our younger athletes are very lucky to have her with us!

More great news --- Congrats to Mari Topel for accepting an offer to continue her education and play softball for the University of Rochester! This is a great academic opportunity for a terrific new member to the Hawk family this season!
Great news --- Jess Walsh just signed minutes ago with Robert Morris College!!!!! Jess is another long time Hawk, coaches for me with the 12 under team, and has worked so hard to get this far! I couldn't be prouder, we had a little rocky road on the recruiting trail - but everything works out for the best in the long run! When they made this kid, they broke the mold, and I am glad we have had the opportunity to watch Jess grow and develop as a part of our program over the years.
Brittany Wilson has verballed to UIC and coaches Tom Gray and Sarah Fisher O'Malley --- this has been Brit's dream school for some time and her one and only choice on her list. She stuck to her guns while other schools came calling and got her dream! The Wilson's are ecstatic and I hear Brit has been on cloud nine since their meeting this week!
Nicole Costello has verballed this week with St Joseph College in Rensselaer and coach Frank Wilkins. This has been a match made for almost 2 years now - and St Joe fits Nicole's needs and goals like a glove -- Frank is thrilled to have Nicole join and the Costello's are very proud of this choice among many. This reunites Jess Lynch and Nicole once again! Nicole palyed with the Hawks from 11 under thru last year and is now completing her final year at 18 with our long-time friend and class act Jim Abbott for her final season.
Congratulations to both long time Hawks and for everyone else - let me know as you make your final choices here -- to think of so many of you as 7 and 8 year olds and now we are seeing one after another move on to college - this ole guys awfully proud of each of you.
Just heard the great news that Sarah Porzel will be attending St Ambrose University and become a Queen Bee!!! Sarah is another of my original Yankees, starting with us way back at 7 years old! Wow - 10 years with me and she is still sane! Sarah, congrats on all the work and dedication paying off in this opportunity, it has been a wonderful time and I am very proud to see you are moving on to the next level now!
Another signing for our young ladies as I am proud to announce that Steph Trapp accepted Lewis University's offer and has signed to play next year for George DiMatteo. The Trapp family was a part of the Hawk family for many years with their older daughter, and it is with great pride that we have Stephanie finishing her career as a Hawk this season with us. Russ and Colleen were great contributors and class people in helping make the Hawks what we are today. Remembering facing Steph and her mom as Bobcats in all those rec tourneys at 9 and 10 to seeing the day come when another of those "little squirts" moves on to college really makes me feel old! Congrats Steph!
Yet another signing this week as Kim Malacina has signed her letter of intent to play for coach Dick Smith at St Francis! Kim is another of my original Yankees from 7 years old and it makes me so proud to see another life long Hawk moving on to college! Kim has taken the mound for us in so many key battles over the years and has always made me feel we had the upper hand no matter our opponent. If you want to see a picture of dedication and work ethic in the softball dictionary - just look for Kim's yearbook photo. From the day she decided she wanted to be a pitcher at 11 years old - I don't think there were many days where her and Dan have not worked towards this achievement as a team - congrats once again!
I just heard from Bob Topel that Brittany Hannigan has given an oral commitment to attend and play softball for Saint Xavier. Congratulations to Brittany and to the
Hannigans for this well-deserved outcome. Brit is new to the Hawks this year - but from the short time I have known her, what a determined athlete and student! Great job and CONGRATS!!!
Congratulations to Homer Hawk Sara Silke on her opportunity to continue both her softball career and her love of music by agreeing to attend Southwest Minnesota State University! Another student athlete living her dream and making the Hawks proud.
FRANZEN SQUAD----
Another Hawk selects her college !!! Hallie Gibbs also verballed to Syracuse and head coach Leigh Ross!!! Hallie will be entering her 4th year with the Hawks and is quite the 3 sport athlete in High School.
Also wanted to congratulate Megan Paradzinski from Ali's team as well on her selection to join Myra Minushkin at St. Xavier University. Megan is a terrific outfielder new to Ali's team this year and another quality student athlete!
FESTIN SQUAD ---
Just heard we have 2 more Hawks flying off to college next year to both continue their education and play softball for their schools! Congrats to both girls from Jeff Festin's 18 under team! Sam Griffith will be playing at Purdue North Central. She signed last weekend. Brandi Edwards will be playing at Clarke College. Great jobs girls for finding the right opportunities and for being proud members of the Homer Hawk family! The great news continues to poor in as I see many college and high school highlights filtering across my screen everyday - let's keep it up and get ready to roll this summer!
I would like to congratulate Lauren Panek on her decision to attend Saint Francis University and play for my good friend and great coach Dick Smith! Lauren is new to the Hawks this year with Jeff Festin's team - but I have known her and her family for many years back to our 11 under years playing vs her in several tourneys. Lauren is a quality shortstop and student athlete from Lemont HS.
More good news as Ali just informed me that Sarah Ottoman also verballed with University of the Ozarks in Arkansas last night. I
don't know many details but she is super excited. Sarah started out with the Hawks many seasons ago, left for a couple seasons, and rejoins us now with Jeff Festin's squad! Great family and powerful, dedicated player - Sarah - congrats on all the hard work paying off! Another quality student athlete succeeds!
Another new Hawk is proud to announce she will be attending Robert Morris College! Congratulations to Claire Seaver!!!

Another signing last night as CJ Rupsis signed with St Francis University. That's our 3rd player joining the Dick Smith Experience this year. CJ came to us 2 years ago and has been a leader since day one! Great job CJ and coach Smith is ecstatic to have you joining him. CJ's experience in recruiting turned sour in August with a misunderstanding with a college; but her class and determination created an opportunity for an even better opportunity! It goes to show if you deserve good things to happen to you; they will if you are patient and maintain the class that makes you the person you are! Congrats CJ!
