Local baseball, softball seeds are set

From staff reports The Illinois High School Association has released seeds, regional assignments and pairings for the Class AA baseball and softball sectionals. Regionals will be played the week of May 21, sectionals the following week.
Softball
A majority of area softball teams are lumped in the loaded Bloom Sectional, with these the top 13 seeds in the 17-team field: 1. Lincoln-Way Central, 2. Lincoln-Way East, 3. Lockport, 4. JCA, 5. Homewood-Flossmoor, 6. Andrew, 7. Minooka, 8. Marian, 9. Crete-Monee, 10. Providence, 11. Morris, 12. Bloom, 13. Joliet.
The Joliet Regional will feature a JCA-JT semifinal, along with H-F vs. Morris. At Lincoln-Way East, the Griffins open vs. No. 15 Rich East and Minooka takes on Providence. At Crete-Monee, Lincoln-Way Central will get the winner of a feed-in game and Marian will battle Crete-Monee. At Andrew, Lockport will play No. 14 Tinley Park and Andrew hooks up with Bloom.
The Neuqua Valley Sectional features Bolingbrook, Romeoville and the three Plainfield schools, with Plainfield Central the No. 1 seed. The Wildcats go against the Romeoville-Sandwich play-in winner at Waubonsie Valley, with Waubonsie meeting Oswego in the other semifinal.
Bolingbrook, seeded ninth, opens against No. 5 Downers Grove North at Bolingbrook, while at Yorkville, No. 6 Plainfield South and No. 12 Plainfield North do battle. Hinsdale South, the No. 3 seed, is the favorite in the other semifinal.
Lemont is the No. 4 seed in the Sandburg Sectional and will host a regional, meeting No. 13 Thornton Fractional North in the semifinals. Sandburg is the No. 1 seed.
